Graphical Report dialog box

Basic Settings
Name Specifies the name for the laminate graphical post processing report. The name is displayed in the Simulation Navigator as the node name for the laminate graphical report node.

Input page

Solver Input
Specifies the structural results that are used as the input to the laminate solver for calculating laminate graphical results.
Solver Shell Stress Resultants Computes ply stresses, strains, failure indices, strength ratios, and margins of safety from the FEM's laminate physical properties and the solver shell stress resultants.
Solver Ply Stresses and Strains Computes ply failure indices, strength ratios, and margins of safety from the FEM's laminate physical properties and the solver ply stresses and strains.
Ply Stress Calculation Options
Available when Solver Shell Stress Resultants is selected.
Ply Location Determines where the software computes and displays the ply stress results. You can select any combination of bottom, middle, or top of the ply.
Coordinate System Specifies the coordinate system.PlyUses the ply's coordinate system.LaminateUses the laminate's coordinate system. The laminate coordinate system is the material coordinate system.
Element Nodal Results
Specifies the format for storing and displaying laminate results.
Elemental Averages the element-nodal values received from the structural solver, and uses the average value at the element centroid.
Element-Nodal Uses the element-nodal values received from the structural solver.

Output page

Select Result
Specifies the types of results to output. For each result type that you select, you can specify one of the following enveloping types:Max & Min specifies the maximum and minimum values for the selected result type.Min specifies the minimum values for the selected result type.Max specifies the maximum values for the selected result type.Max Absolute specifies the maximum absolute values for the selected result type.Min Absolute specifies the minimum absolute values for the selected result type.
Advanced Settings
Specifies the advanced settings for calculating the laminate graphical results.
Factor of Safety Sets a safety factor for the margin of safety computation.
Failure Mode Specifies the failure mode that the result module uses to calculate failure indices. You can select:In-plane plyComputes ply failure.InterlaminarComputes bond failure.BothComputes both in-plane ply failure and bond failure.
Ply Export Option Controls the ply naming convention in the Post Processing Navigator.Ply Global IDNames the ply using its global ID number.Ply IDNames the ply using its draping order on the region.

Enveloping page

Enveloping
Controls which ply-envelope results are generated. Ply-envelope results are elemental results derived over all plies using the enveloping type you specify in the Select Result sub group.
Show Load Cases Generates ply-envelope results for each load case separately and over all load cases. When you clear this check box, the software generates only ply-envelope results over all load cases.
Show Ply Results Generates ply results in addition to the ply-envelope results.
Overall Only Available when both Show Load Cases and Show Ply Results are selected.Generates ply results only over all load cases. When you clear this check box, the software generates ply results for each load case separately. This is useful when starting from 2D element shell resultants and therefore in the absence of ply results from the structural solver.

Report Options page

Report Object
Report object list Specifies the laminate report object that defines the elements and plies used in the laminate graphical report.
Create Report Object Available when you select None from the report object list.Opens the Laminate Report Object dialog box that lets you create a laminate report object.
Edit Available when you select an existing report from the report object list.Opens the Laminate Report Object dialog box that lets you modify the selected laminate report object.
Open Manager Opens the Report Object Manager dialog box that lets you create or select a laminate report object.
More Options Displays the Options subgroup.
Options Lets you search and filter laminate report objects using the following options:FindLets you search for a laminate report object by entering the full name of the object. For example, to find a report object named ABC_report, type ABC_report in the search box and press Enter or click Find .Filter by NameLets you filter the list by the names of the report objects. This filter supports wildcards. The default wildcard is the asterisk (), and it displays all entries in the list. For example, to filter the list to display every report object with a name starting with the letter “a," enter a as the filter string.
Failure Theory Override 1 and Failure Theory Override 2
Specifies the ply and interlaminar failure theories that the software uses to generate additional ply failure results. You can select one or two different failure theories to generate and compare results in the report.
Ply Failure Theory Lets you specify a different ply failure theory other than the one you defined in the FEM, if applicable.
Interlaminar Failure Theory Lets you specify a different interlaminar failure theory other than the one you defined in the FEM, if applicable.
