Element Material Orientation dialog box
| Elements to Check | |

| Elements to Check | Specifies the method for selecting elements whose material orientations you want to display.Selected: Lets you select the elements.Displayed: Displays the material orientation of all currently displayed elements. |
| Select Object | Available when Elements to Check is set to Selected.Lets you select the elements that the software displays for the material orientation. |
| Element LabelsNote: You cannot specify element labels in Design Simulation. | Available when Elements to Check is set to Selected.Lets you add elements to the selection.Use a space or comma to separate your entries.Use a colon or a dash to add a range of element labels.For example, enter 1:10 or 1-10 to add all the element labels from 1 to 10.Use colons to add an incremented range of element labels.For example, enter:1:9:2 to add element labels 1, 3, 5, 7, 9.1:10:2 to add element labels 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 10.10:1:-2 to add element labels 10, 8, 6, 4, 2, 1.Press enter or click Select to add your entries.To edit your selection, click Edit Element Selection . |

| Shell Orientation | Displays the material orientation for 2D elements. |
| Solid First Direction | Displays the first direction of the material coordinate system for 3D elements. |
| Solid Second Direction | Displays the second direction of the material coordinate system for 3D elements. |
| Solid Third Direction | Displays the third direction of the material coordinate system for 3D elements. |
| Hide Arrowheads | Hides the arrowheads in the display. |
| Exterior Solid Elements Only | For solid elements, displays the orientation only on the exterior elements. |
| Display Element Material Orientation | Applies the selected display settings and displays element material orientation.Each time you edit the display settings, you must click Display Element Material Orientation to display the changes. |
| Advanced Display Settings | |
| Appears when you define Elements to Check and select at least one of the Shell Orientation, Solid First Direction, Solid Second Direction, or Solid Third Direction check boxes. | |
| Enable Translucency | Allows you to adjust the translucency of meshed surfaces to better visualize the displayed element material orientations.Note: To adjust translucency, you must first enable translucency in the Visualization Preferences dialog box. To enable translucency:Choose File→Preferences→Visualization.In the Visualization Preferences dialog box, click Rendering→Graphics.Select the Translucency check box. |
| Translucency | Adjusts the translucency of the meshed surfaces as a percentage. |
| Arrow Show Through | Makes element material orientations visible through any surface or edge. |
