Acoustics and vibro-acoustics > NVH > Simcenter 3D Noise and Vibration > Modeling fluid-structure coupling and interaction
Define fluid-structure interface modeling parameters (Noise and Vibration)
You must define the interface between the fluid and the structure.
Choose Home tab → Properties group → Modeling Objects .Alternatively, click Create Modeling Object in the Vibro-Acoustic Coupling group of the Solution dialog box.
In the Modeling Objects Manager dialog box, from the Type list, select Fluid-Structure Interface Modeling Parameters.
Click Create.
In the Fluid-Structure Interface Modeling Parameters dialog box, from the Type of Coupling (CTYPE) list, select the appropriate type of coupling.
In the Angular Tolerance box, enter the overlapping angular tolerance value and select the units from the list. The pre-solver takes the absolute value of the overlapping angle between the normals of the structure and the fluid face; therefore, this value must be between 0 and 90.
Define the Fluid Interface by fluid elements or Selection Recipe. From the Fluid Elements for the Interface list:Select All to include all fluid elements in the interface.Select Specify Included Elements to specify all the fluid elements for the interface. You can specify the fluid elements either by group reference or by directly selecting the object.By selecting existing group(s):In the Entity Selection group, select the Group Reference check box.See Create and manage groups for more details.By selecting the object:In the Entity Selection group, click Select Object and select the geometry or FE entity to which the parameters are to be applied.
Define the Structural Interface by structural elements.
Click OK to close the Fluid-Structure Interface Modeling Parameters dialog box.The defined fluid-structure interface modeling parameter appears in the Selection group table of the Modeling Objects Manager dialog box.
(Optional) Repeat steps 1-8 to define additional fluid-structure interface modeling parameters.
Click Close to complete the modeling parameter definition and close the Modeling Objects Manager dialog box.
Add the defined fluid-structure interface modeling parameters to the solution
Right-click an active vibro-acoustic solution and choose Edit.
In the Solution dialog box, in the Vibro-Acoustic Coupling group, from the Fluid-Structure Interface Modeling Parameters list, select the appropriate fluid-structure interface modeling parameter.
Click OK to close the Solution dialog box.
