Create a result measure

1. Solve your model.

2. In the Simulation Navigator, right-click the simulation and choose Result Measures.

3. Click New .

4. From the Solution list, select the solved solution from which to extract results.

5. If the solution contains multiple subcases, from the Subcase list, select the subcase from which to select results. When you select All Subcases, the expression will extract the result value from across all subcases. The extracted result will be the minimum, maximum, or mean average depending the Operation setting that you select.

6. From the options in the Input group, select the result type to extract, the component, the coordinate system, and the units in which to extract the results.The result types that are available depend on the results that were solved for this solution.

7. In the Operation group, specify the operator on the result that will determine the value to extract. For example, to extract the maximum stress result from the solution, select Maximum.

8. In the Model Subset Selection group, specify whether to extract the results based on the entire model or a subset of the model.To extract the results over the entire model, select Entire Model.To select solid bodies, faces, edges, curves or points, select Geometry. To select elements and nodes from a mesh, select Finite Element.

9. In the Expression Name box, enter a descriptive name.

10. Click OK.

Update a result measure

When you change the FE model and re-solve it, the result measure is not updated automatically with the new result value. You must update it in the Result Measure Manager dialog box.

Note:

If you re-solve the model with the Run Solve in Foreground option selected in the solution attributes, the result measure updates automatically.

1. In the Simulation Navigator, right-click the simulation and choose Result Measures.

2. In the Result Measure Manager dialog box, select the result measure to update.

3. Click Update .

4. Click Close.
