Samcef environment
Simcenter Samcef environment
The Simcenter Samcef solver environment allows you to build finite element models, define loading and solution options, and view results for the Simcenter Samcef solver. When you create a Simcenter Samcef solution, Simcenter Samcef terminology appears in the user interface. You can create elements, loads, boundary conditions, and solution options. The Simcenter Samcef input file that you generate using Pre/Post is ready to solve.
The Simcenter Samcef solver environment offers key features such as:
A large library of elements, including Mindlin and Heterosis shells, solid shells, cohesive elements, axisymmetric elements, plane stress elements, and plane strain elements.
A large library of materials, including hyperelastic, viscoplastic and curing materials.
Composites data fully integrated to the Simcenter 3D Laminate Composites modelers, including delamination layers, damage interface material laws, and failure criteria.
Contact and gluing conditions, with an Ancillary Display mode to preview the real contact and gluing conditions estimated by Simcenter Samcef at the pre-processing stage.
Supported file types
In Pre/Post, you can work with the following types of Simcenter Samcef files:
Simcenter Samcef input files (.dat)
Simcenter Samcef ASCII format result files (.res)
Simcenter Samcef binary format result files (.des/.fac)
Supported Simcenter Samcef elements, properties, and commands
This software supports a variety of Simcenter Samcef elements, materials properties, physical properties, boundary conditions, and parameters. For more information, see the following topics:

Supported licensing servers
By default, the Simcenter Samcef solver environment uses the standard Simcenter 3D server (UGS_LICENSE_SERVER environment variable).
However, you can select your own RLM or FLEXlm license server by setting the following environment variables:
To use licenses from your RLM license server, set the SAM_USE_RLM environment variable to 1.
To use licenses from your FLEXlm license server, set the SAM_USE_FLEXLM environment variable to 1.
