Create an expression for a measurement

You can create expressions for the following measurements: distance between points, length along a curve, angles, volume of a body, area of a surface, and so on. This example shows how to create an expression for the distance between two points.

  1. Choose Tools tab→Utilities group→Expressions .

  2. If necessary, in the Expressions dialog box, from the Dimensionality list, select Length.

  3. Right-click the Formula cell and choose Edit.Note: When you right-click the Formula cell, it must be colored blue in order for Edit to show up in the list of options.

  4. In the Edit dialog box, from the measure command list, select Measure Distance .The Measure Distance dialog box opens.

  5. Select the start point and end point .

  6. Click OK to close the Measure Distance dialog box.

  7. Click OK to close the Edit dialog box.

  8. In the Expressions dialog box, in the Name cell, type the name of the measurement.

  9. Click OK to close the Expressions dialog box.
