Laminate extraction
When you use a built-in method for buckling of a rectangular orthotropic laminate plate, or you use a custom method that requires laminate information, you can use the Laminate Extraction dialog box to specify the laminate for the method. With the Laminate Extraction dialog box, you can do the following:
Extract the material properties from an existing laminate definition or from a laminate that you create.
Specify the extraction directions for the laminate properties.
Reverse the direction of the 2D element normals that are extracted from the FEM for the margin of safety calculation.
Reverse the order of the plies in the laminate that is extracted from the FEM for the margin of safety calculation.
After you have defined the laminate, you can open an information window to display the numerical values for the elastic properties of the laminate expressed relative to the material coordinate system or the laminate coordinate system.
When you use laminate extraction to define an input parameter, the software creates a link between the margin of safety calculation and the laminate definition. Thus, if you change the laminate, the values for the material properties that the software uses in the margin of safety calculation automatically reflect the changed laminate.
Note:
For solved margin of safety calculations, you must rerun the calculations in order for the results to reflect the changes that you made to the laminate.
