Critical margin of safety expressions

You can create an expression for all of the calculations or the single most critical calculation in a set of margin of safety calculations. The most critical calculation is the calculation whose margin of safety is the algebraic smallest. The software lists created expressions in the Critical MS Expressions and Expressions dialog boxes.

The expressions that this capability creates can interface with HEEDS design exploration software.

Except for the names of the expressions, the expressions that the software creates with this capability are not editable. You can edit the name of the expressions from either the Critical MS Expressions or Expressions dialog box.

Creating an expression for the critical margin of safety calculation

In the Critical MS Expression Creation dialog box, when you clear the Create expression for each calculation check box, the software creates an expression for the set of calculations listed in the Calculations table. The numerical value of the expression is the smallest margin of safety value among the calculations in the set.

If you change the model such that the values for the margin of safety also change, the value for the expression automatically updates to reflect the new smallest margin of safety value.
