Define transient initial conditions using components (Abaqus)
The Components type lets you specify the initial velocity on a set of nodes in the translational degrees of freedom (DOF1 to DOF3) and/or the rotational degrees of freedom (DOF4 to DOF6).
Choose Home tab→Loads and Conditions group→Constraint Type list→Initial Conditions .
In the Initial Conditions dialog box, from the type list, select Velocity - Components.
In the Model Objects group, click Select Object and select the nodes to apply the initial conditions to.
In the Direction group, select the coordinate system to use to define the initial velocity.
In the Initial Velocity group, enter the initial velocity magnitude (as a constant value or expression) for the appropriate degrees of freedom. For example, type .51 mm/sec in DOF2 to specify the translational Y-direction and 1.25 degrees/sec in DOF5 to specify the rotation about the Y-direction. The value is exported in rad/sec. For more information about defining expressions, see Expressions.
Click OK.
