Animate post-processing scenarios

You can animate the contour plots from post-processing scenarios using the post-processing Animate command or the Next Mode/Iteration and Previous Mode/Iteration commands in the Result group of the Results tab. You can animate a single result to its maximum value or over multiple iterations. You can set a customer default to limit the number of iterations so you do not significantly impact your system resources. You can also turn off the limit.

Set customer defaults

  1. Choose FileUtilitiesCustomer Defaults.

  2. In the Customer Defaults dialog box, select SimulationPre/PostPost Processor and select the Scenario-based Post Processing tab.

  3. Select the Restrict Number of Iterations for Plotting check box and type the maximum number of iterations in the Maximum Number of Iterations box.

  4. Click OK.

Set modes and animate

  1. Create the contour plots of post-processing scenarios you want to animate. For information about creating scenarios, see Create and edit post-processing scenarios.

  2. In the Scenario Based Data-Visualization Navigator, in the Selection node, select a value you want to animate across.

  3. In the editor subpanel, select an option to set the iterations you want to animate.

**All** — Animates across all the iterations starting with the selected iteration.
**Select** — Animates across the subset of selected iterations starting with the selected iteration. Select the check boxes of the iterations you want to animate across. The software starts with the selected iteration.

          Tip:

To select all iterations, right-click an iteration, and choose **Check all**.
To select an iteration, right-click an iteration, and choose **Check selected**.
To clear the selection of all iterations, right-click an iteration, and choose **Uncheck all**.
To clear the selection of an iteration, right-click an iteration, and choose **Uncheck selected**.

**None** — The variable is not considered an iteration variable and you cannot animate over its value.

  4. Click Apply Changes .

  5. Use the post-processing Animate command or the Next Mode/Iteration and Previous Mode/Iteration commands to animate the iterations. For more information about animations, see Animations.
