Export a selection recipe as a hard point

You can export only certain types of selection recipes as hard points. For more information, see Exporting selection recipes as hard points.

1. Choose Home tab→Utilities group→More list→Export Hard Point .

2. Click Browse and navigate to the folder where you want to create the XML file.

3. In the File name box, type the name of the XML file where you want to export the hard point information, and then click OK in the File to export dialog box.

4. From the Length list, select the unit of measurement to use for in the XML file.Any length-related values in the selection recipes are converted to use the specified unit of measurement. For example, suppose a coordinate selection recipe has Tolerance set to 10 mm, and you select in from the Length list. The software converts 10 mm to 0.393701 inches, and the hard point data in the XML file includes tolerance="0.393701".

5. Click OK.The Information window displays the number of hard points exported to the XML file. Depending on the types of selection recipes that exist in the model, this number might be fewer than the total number of selection recipes.If you export a coordinate selection recipe for which Resolve Preference is set to Lowest Label or Highest Label, the Information window indicates that this option will be set differently if you subsequently import the XML file into a Pre/Post model. For the imported selection recipe, Resolve Preference is set to Closest Node. As a result, if more than one node exists within the tolerance distance of the specified coordinate, the selection recipe selects the node closest to that coordinate. This might be a different node than the one selected by the original selection.If none of the selection recipes can be exported as hard points, no XML file is created.

6. Close the Information window.
