Polygon geometry versus lightweight facet bodies

The FEM file represents the solid or sheet bodies in the part as polygon geometry. Polygon geometry is a faceted or tessellated representation of the solid model geometry. Unlike lightweight facet bodies, polygon geometry contains edge and face data used to define your analysis model. This edge and face data is extracted from the solid or sheet bodies in the idealized part. Because lightweight facet bodies contain no edge or face data, you cannot create a FEM on lightweight facet representations in assembly reference sets.

If you create a new FEM with the Use all bodies option selected, the software skips any lightweight facet bodies in the assembly part. If you create a new FEM with the Select bodies option selected, facet bodies are not selectable.

When you create a FEM file from an assembly part, ensure that all parts you want to analyze in the assembly are solid or sheet bodies.
