Samcef environment > Simcenter Samcef import
Import a finite element model (Simcenter Samcef)
With a FEM or Simulation file as the work part, choose File→Import→Simulation.
In the Import dialog box, from the Select Solver list, select Simcenter Samcef, and then click OK.
In the Simcenter Samcef File Import dialog box, on the File - Analysis tab, browse to the file to import. You can import a model from a Simcenter Samcef .dat plain text bank file, .datx XML file, or .sdb binary database.
In the Input File Units group, select the units system to use, and in the Analysis and Solution group, select the Automatic Choice check box.For information on how the software identifies the analysis and solution types, see Automatically setting the correct analysis and solution (Simcenter Samcef). If you prefer to select the analysis and solution types to create, clear the Automatic Choice check box and select from the lists.Note: Imported data that is not compatible with the selected analysis and solution types is stored in the User Defined Text epilog.
To ensure that you have the files necessary for identifying issues if a problem occurs during the import, on the Solver parameters tab, select the Keep Temporary Files After Import check box.For a list of the files that are retained, see File Import dialog box (Simcenter Samcef).
On the Options and Solver parameters tabs, define the other import options.
Click OK.The import creates new FEM and Simulation files.
(Optional) In the New FEM and Simulation dialog box, change the default FEM and Simulation file names.
Click OK to import the model.
When the import is complete, review the Information window and the pre-processor log file for additional information about the import. The log file is located in the same folder as the simulation files and is named as follows:simulation_file_name_expnx.logTip: To quickly locate error and warning messages in the log file, search for the percent symbol (%). Error and warning messages are preceded by %%%, as in this example, which indicates that a function name exceeds the 256-character limit: %%%WARNING-1154%%% (.FCT) Line reading stops at the following column; the other character are discarded. Column: 256For more information, see Common issues when importing a model (Simcenter Samcef).
