Beam Cross Section Property dialog box (Simcenter Samcef)

Physical Property Table
Name Sets the name of the physical property table.
Label Sets the unique numeric identifier for the physical property table.
Properties
Section Type Specifies the type of cross section to assign to curves.ConstantSpecifies that the beam section is identical at all points along the element’s length.TaperedSpecifies that the beam section tapers. The taper is defined as a linear transition from the section defined as the Fore Section to the section defined as the Aft Section.Tip: To view positive and negative directions of the 1D mesh, right-click the 1D mesh node in the Simulation Navigator and choose Display Section.
Fore Section****Aft Section Specifies the appropriate beam cross sections. Select a previously defined section from the list or click Show Section Manager to define a new section.Aft Section appears when Section Type is set to Tapered.
Apply taper to Appears when Section Type is set to Tapered.Specifies how the taper is applied. Each Element(1) Applies the taper to each element.End Nodes of Chain(2) Applies the taper between the end nodes of a chain.
Material Specifies the material for the associated elements.Select a material from the list of materials assigned to the model, or click Choose material to define a new material.
Nonstructural Mass Sets the non-structural mass of the beam.
Damping Type Specifies a damping type. No DampingNo damping.ViscousLets you define a viscous (or non-modal) damping.Hysteretic Stiffness FactorLets you define hysteretic (or structural) damping based a given stiffness factor.Hysteretic Flexibility FactorLets you define hysteretic (or structural) damping based a given flexibility factor. For more information on damping, see Damping (Simcenter Samcef).
Viscous Stiffness Factor (ALPHA) Appears when Damping Type is set to Viscous.Sets the viscous stiffness factor.
Viscous Mass Factor (BETA) Appears when Damping Type is set to Viscous.Sets the viscous mass factor.
Hysteretic Stiffness Factor (HYST) Appears when Damping Type is set to Hysteretic Stiffness Factor.Sets the hysteretic stiffness factor.
Hysteretic Flexibility Factor (IHYST) Appears when Damping Type is set to Hysteretic Flexibility Factor.Sets the hysteretic flexibility factor.
