Property View

From the Property View list for an Orthotropic material, select Simcenter Nastran MAT8/MATT8/MATS1.

Properties group

Properties
Mass Density (RHO). Lets you define the mass density. In the Samcef .MAT BEHAV "ELASTIC" command, this corresponds to the M parameter. For more information, see the Samcef linear elastic material page.

Mechanical page

Young's Modulus (Ei)
**Young's Modulus (E1)**and Young's Modulus (E2) Lets you define the Young's modulus. This property can be a constant, an expression, or a temperature dependent field. In the Samcef .MAT BEHAV "ELASTIC" command, this corresponds to the YT parameter. For more information, see the Samcef linear elastic material page.
Poisson's Ratio (NUij)
Poisson's Ratio (NU12) Lets you define the Poisson's ratio. This property can be a constant, an expression, or a temperature dependent field. In the Samcef .MAT BEHAV "ELASTIC" command, this corresponds to the NT parameter. For more information, see the Samcef linear elastic material page.
Shear Modulus (Gij)
Shear Modulus (G12), Shear Modulus (G13), and Shear Modulus (G23) Lets you define the shear modulus. This property can be a constant, an expression, or a temperature dependent field. In the Samcef .MAT BEHAV "ELASTIC" command, this corresponds to the G parameter. For more information, see the Samcef linear elastic material page.

Strength page

Failure Criteria
Tsai-Wu Lets you select the Tsai-Wu failure criteria.

The following properties appear when you select the Tsai-Wu criteria.

Stress Limits
Tension (ST1) and Tension (ST2) Lets you define the maximum tensile stress. This property can be a constant, expression, or a temperature dependent field. In the Samcef .MAT command, this corresponds to the XT parameter. For more information, see the Samcef failure criteria page.
**Compression (SC1)**and Compression (SC2) Lets you define the maximum compressive stress. This property can be a constant, expression, or a temperature dependent field. In the Samcef .MAT command, this corresponds to the XC parameter. For more information, see the Samcef failure criteria page.
Shear (SS12) Lets you define the maximum shear stress. This property can be a constant, an expression, or a temperature dependent field. In the Samcef .MAT command, this corresponds to the RST parameter.failure criteria
Tsai-Wu Coefficient
F12, Lets you define the Tsai-Wu interaction coefficient. This property can be a constant, expression, or a temperature dependent field. In the Samcef .MAT command, this corresponds to the FIJ parameter. For more information, see the Samcef failure criteria page.

Thermal/Electrical page

Thermal
Temperature (TREF) Lets you define the material reference temperature. In the Samcef .MAT BEHAV "ELASTIC" command, this corresponds to the TREF parameter. For more information, see the Samcef linear elastic material page.
Thermal Expansion
Thermal Expansion Coefficient (A), Thermal Expansion Coefficient (A2)**** Lets you define the thermal expansion coefficients. In the Samcef .MAT BEHAV "ELASTIC" command, this corresponds to the A parameter. For more information, see the Samcef linear elastic material page.
