Transient Excitation Set (Simcenter Samcef)
Use a Transient Excitation Set to define a time-dependent dynamic load or enforced motion load for use in a Linear Transient Response Analysis. Specifically, a Transient Excitation Set lets you define the time-based excitation law, which is an arbitrary unitless function of time g(t), and which defines the time dependence of the loading:
F(t) = load × g(t)
where:
F(t) is the complete time-dependent loading
g(t) is the excitation law
load is the constant coefficient
Each constant load is multiplied by g(t) to create the time-dependent loading function F(t) = load × g(t), which has the same measurement unit as the constant load. Thus, all loading functions F(t) = load × g(t) that belong to an excitation set are characterized by the same time dependence g(t).
To create and use a Transient Excitation Set, you must do the following:
Define the excitation as a constant or function of time, using either an expression or a field.Note: You can also define a function for use in cyclic symmetry analyses. The function describes the tangential evolution of the load. The X-axis is defined in degrees from 0 to 360, and the function is exported as a table. For more information, see the FSC parameter of the Samcef .SOD command.
Assign a load set to the excitation set to ensure that the static and enforced loads are applied according to the excitation function. You can assign only one load set to an excitation set. To give you flexibility in applying loads to your dynamic response analysis, you can reuse a load set in different excitation sets.
Add the Transient Excitation Set to a subcase in the Linear Transient Response Analysis.
Corresponding Simcenter Samcef syntax
The Transient Excitation Set corresponds to the Simcenter Samcef .SOL / .SOD commands. For more information, see the Samcef .SOD command or the .SOL command.
