Meshing > Pyramid element transitions
Use pyramid elements for hexahedral-tetrahedral mesh transitions
When you create your FEM file, choose either Simcenter Nastran, ANSYS, Simcenter 3D Thermal/Flow, Simcenter 3D Electronic Systems Cooling, or Simcenter 3D Space Systems Thermal as the solver. You can only use pyramid elements to transition from a hexahedral to a tetrahedral mesh if you are working in the Simcenter Nastran, ANSYS, Thermal/Flow, Electronic Systems Cooling, or Space Systems Thermal solver language environments.
Before you mesh the model, ensure that Glue Coincident type mesh mating conditions exist at the interface between the two bodies. The nodes at the interface between the two bodies match exactly.
Use 3D Swept Mesh to create the hexahedral mesh on the first body.
Use 3D Tetrahedral Mesh to create the tetrahedral mesh on the second body. Be sure to select the Transition with Pyramid Elements option in the 3D Tetrahedral Mesh dialog box.
