Random Data Source dialog box

Name - Description
Name Sets the random data source name.
Description Sets the random data description.
Mode Set
Mode Set Lets you select a mode set defined in the Simulation file for the random data source.
Edit Mode Set Available when you selected a mode set from the Mode Set list.Opens the Mode Set dialog box that lets you edit the selected mode set.
Create Mode Set Opens the Mode Set dialog box that lets you create a mode set.You can select a mode set defined in the solution results of the active Simulation file, or import the modal data of a mode set from the following external files.Nastran results file (.op2) I-deas results file (.unv)Abaqus ODB files (.odb)ANSYS structural results file (.rst)
Modes Allows you to:Indicate the boundary conditions used to compute the modes contained in the selected mode set. If the boundary conditions are computed using the:Free-Free boundary condition, the solver uses the fixed vibration inputs to constrain the model and re-compute the modes during durability solution.Fixed-Fixed boundary condition, the solver ignores the fixed vibration inputs during durability solution.Instruct the solver to read the modal participation factors from the mode set or an external forced vibration solution results file, instead of computing them using the Read Modal Participation Factors option. For more information, see Modal basis in vibration load events definition.
Sampling Rate
Sampling Rate Not available when Modes is set to Read Modal Participation Factors.Sets the incremental rate to define the frequencies at which the solution is performed. The sampling frequencies start from 0 and increase with the increment that you specify in the Sampling Rate box. The solver determines the start and end frequencies based on the functions specified for the vibration and correlation inputs.Note: If the start or end frequency does not coincide with the sampling frequencies, the software evaluates the vibration and correlation input functions at the sampling frequency that is in closest to the start or end frequency.
Modal Participation Factors
Available when Modes is set to Read Modal Participation Factors.Lets you select a source from which the solver extracts the modal participation factors.FileLets you select a file that contains the modal participation factors. The supported file types are .pch and .op2.Click Browse to select the file.Mode Set Data SourceInstructs the solver to extract the modal participation factors from the mode set source file.
Vibration Inputs
Create Vibration Input Opens the Vibration Input dialog box that lets you create vibration inputs. The integer in the brackets (#) displays the number of vibration inputs defined in the current random data source.
Correlation Inputs
Correlation Inputs (#) Opens the Correlation Input dialog box that lets you create correlations between existing function-type vibration inputs. The integer in the brackets (#) displays the number of correlation inputs defined in the current random data source. You can only define correlations between the vibration inputs that have the same type of function measures for their excitation.
Static Loads
Lets you select the desired subcases containing static loads from a finite element result file that contains several subcases.FileLets you select a finite element result file.Click Browse to select the finite element result file.Solution ResultLets you select a solved solution to retrieve its results.Select a solution from the list, or click More Options to filter the solutions. When you retrieve the finite element result file, the software lists the result subcases in the subcase list.
Type Specifies the finite element result file type. The supported file types are Simcenter Nastran (.op2), I-deas (.unv), Simcenter Samcef (.des), Abaqus (.odb), and ANSYS (.rst).
Unit System Displays the unit system that is defined in the finite element results file. If the unit system is not defined in the file, it displays Not Found. From the Unit System list, you can select a unit system that overwrites the one specified in the result file.
Subcase list Lists the available subcases from the finite element result file from which you select the desired subcases containing static loads. To select a subcase, select its check box in the Index column. You can modify the scale factor of a selected static load in the list by clicking its scale value. The software uses each selected static load in the durability analysis as a constant load.
