Isotropic Material Definition dialog box (Simcenter Samcef Structure)

Property View

From the Property View list for an Isotropic material, select Samcef Isotropic Structure or Samcef Isotropic Linear Damage Structure.

Properties group

Properties
Mass Density (RHO). Lets you define the mass density. In the Samcef material page, this corresponds to the M parameter.

Mechanical page

Elastic constants
Young's Modulus (E) Lets you define the Young's modulus. This property can be a constant, an expression, or a temperature-dependent field. In the Samcef material page, this corresponds to the YT parameter.
Poisson's Ratio (NU) Lets you define the Poisson's ratio. Its valid range of values is [-1,0.5], and you can also use a temperature-dependent field to define this property. In the Samcef material page, this corresponds to the NT parameter.
Shear Modulus (G) Lets you define the shear modulus. This property can be a constant, an expression, or a temperature-dependent field. In the Samcef material page, this corresponds to the G parameter.
Stress-Strain Related Properties
Appears when you select Samcef Isotropic Structure from the Property View list.In the Stress-Strain Related Properties group, you can define elastoplastic properties. You can define yield criterion properties. For more information, see Yield criterion in the Elastoplastic Material dialog box (Simcenter Samcef). You can define hardening laws. For more information, see Hardening Properties in Elastoplastic Material dialog box (Simcenter Samcef).

Strength page

The page appears when you select Samcef Isotropic Structure from the Property View list.

Stress Limits
Tension (ST) Lets you define the maximum tensile stress. In the Samcef .MAT command, this corresponds to the XT parameter. This property can be a constant, an expression, or a temperature-dependent field. For more information, see the Samcef failure criteria page.
Compression (SC) Lets you define the maximum compressive stress. In the Samcef .MAT command, this corresponds to the XC parameter. This property can be a constant, an expression, or a temperature-dependent field. For more information, see the Samcef failure criteria page.
Shear (SS) page Lets you define the maximum shear stress. In the Samcef .MAT command, this corresponds to the RST parameter. This property can be a constant, an expression, or a temperature-dependent field. For more information, see the Samcef failure criteria page.

Thermal page

Thermal
Temperature (TREF) Lets you define the material reference temperature. In the Samcef material page, this corresponds to the TREF parameter.
Thermal Expansion Coefficient (A) Lets you define the thermal expansion coefficient. This property can be a constant, an expression, or a temperature- dependent field. In the Samcef material page, this corresponds to the A parameter.

For more information on the use of Temperature (TREF) and Thermal Expansion Coefficient (A) in Samcef, see Reference and Initial Temperatures in Samcef (Simcenter Samcef).

Creep page

This page appears when you select Samcef Isotropic Structure from the Property View list.

For more information, see Creep Laws Definition dialog box (Simcenter Samcef Structure).

Viscoelasticity page

This page appears when you select Samcef Isotropic Structure form the Property View list.

For more information, see Viscoelastic properties in the Material dialog box (Simcenter Samcef).

Viscoplasticity page

This page appears when you select Samcef Isotropic Structure from the Property View list.

In the Viscoplasticity Properties page, you can define viscoplastic properties. For more information, see Viscoplastic properties in the Material dialog box (Simcenter Samcef).

Damage page

You can define a simple rupture material by selecting the Constant Damage or Rupture with Damage damage behavior.

The following options appear when you select Samcef Isotropic Structure from the Property View list and the Rupture with Damage damage behavior.
**Parameter for Delay (ADEL)**Time for Delay (TAU) Lets you define the two parameters for the delay law.Note: The Time for Delay (TAU) value is required. For more information, see the ADEL and TAU parameters of the Samcef damage ply material page.
Equivalent Plastic Strain Limit Lets you define the equivalent plastic strain limit.
Maximum Damage Value (DDEN) To avoid a singular stiffness matrix when all the material is damaged, you can specify the maximum damage value the material can undergo. Default value = 0.999For more information, see the DDEN parameter of the Samcef damage ply material page.
