Simulation Navigator overview

The Simulation Navigator presents the file relationships and analysis data in your CAE model as a graphical, interactive, hierarchical tree.

From the Simulation Navigator, you can:

  • Review the structure, content, and status of your analysis.

  • Navigate among related files that contain analysis data.

  • Create analysis files, meshes, boundary conditions, and so on.

  • Show and hide geometry, meshes, boundary conditions, and so on.

  • Edit, rename, delete, and interrogate most defined analysis entities.

You can complete almost any task in an analysis workflow without leaving the navigator.

The commands available for nodes in the Simulation Navigator are context-sensitive, and may vary depending on your selected solver and analysis type. Right-click any node in the tree to see the commands for that node.

Some modules in Pre/Post include additional navigator functionality:

  • See Simulation Navigator for Response Dynamics for descriptions of navigator nodes used specifically with the Response Dynamics module.

  • See Simulation Navigator for Durability for descriptions of navigator nodes used specifically with the Durability module.

  • See Correlation nodes in the Simulation Navigator for descriptions of navigator nodes used specifically with the Simcenter 3D FE Model Correlation module.

  • See Model update nodes in the Simulation Navigator for descriptions of navigator nodes used specifically with the Simcenter 3D FE Model Update module.

Working with pages

For some nodes (such as Selection Recipes or Groups), you might create a large number of items. By default, the Simulation Navigator displays all of them. However, you might find it easier to display them in sets of 100. To do this, right-click the node and choose PageOn. The Simulation Navigator displays only the first 100 items. To see the next set, click Next 100. To see the previous set, click Previous 100. To once again display all of the items, right-click the node and choose PageOff.
