Rayleigh's Damping dialog box
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Damping Method | Formula allows you to define constant values for stiffness and mass to use in the damping formula. The formula used is [C] = Alpha[k] + Beta[m]. Range allows you to define a modal viscous damping factor to be applied across the range of frequencies of your normal modes. |
| Alpha | Available when Damping Method is Formula.Enter a constant value for stiffness to be applied in the damping formula. |
| Beta | Available when Damping Method is Formula.Enter a constant value for mass to be applied in the damping formula. |
| Frequency (Lowest-Highest) | Available when Damping Method is Range.Enter the lowest and highest frequency in the range of modal frequencies to which to apply the viscous damping factor. |
| Damping Factor (Lowest-Highest) | Available when Damping Method is Range.Enter the percentage of viscous damping to apply at the lowest and highest frequencies in the range. |
