Define an aerodynamic control surface
In the Simulation file, choose Home tab→Loads and Conditions group→Simulation Object Type list→Aerodynamic Control Surface .The Aerodynamic Control Surface dialog box opens.
In the Aerodynamic Control Surface dialog box, from the Number of Components list, select the number of control surfaces the aerodynamic control surface object consists of.For example, select:1 to define a single control surface, such as a rudder.2 to define a pair of control surfaces that are identical except for their hinge axes, such as ailerons.
In the Aerodynamic Elements 1 group, use Specify CSYS to select or create a coordinate system whose Y-axis defines the hinge line for the aerodynamic control surface. For example, in the following model, the Y-axis of coordinate system defines the hinge of the aileron along the trailing edge of the wing.
Use Select Object to select the aerodynamic elements that comprise the aerodynamic control surface. For example, in the following model, the highlighted aileron contains the aerodynamic elements used to create the aerodynamic control surface.
If you set Number of Components to 1, proceed to step 6.If you set Number of Components to 2, repeat steps 3 and 4 to define the aerodynamic control surface in the Aerodynamic Elements 2 group.
Specify the desired parameters for the control surface(s) in the Parameters group.
Click OK.
