Add a load pattern to a static event

To create a result path excitation, you must select Pattern from the Excitation Type list in the Static Durability Event dialog box while you create a static event.

  1. In the Simulation Navigator, right-click a Static Event node and choose New Excitation.

  2. (Optional) In the Load Pattern dialog box, enter a meaningful name that is displayed in the Simulation Navigator under the static event node.

  3. Select the subcase that contains the static stress or strain results you want to use for the new excitation.

  4. Select a Pattern Type option for the new excitation.Select Half Unit Cycle to ramp the load up from 0 to unity, and then back down to 0.Select Full Unit Cycle to fully reverse the loading in the half-unit cycle. The pattern type indicates how the static load from the selected subcase is converted to a load cycle.

  5. (Optional) In the Scale box, enter a value to scale the stress or strain results.

  6. (Optional) In the Offset box, enter a value to apply a stress or strain offset such that the mean stress or strain is nonzero.A compressive mean stress indicated by a negative offset is beneficial for fatigue life, whereas a tensile mean stress indicated by a positive offset is not.

  7. Click OK.
