NX Open for CAE programming
Overview of the CAE data model
The NX Open for CAE data model is much deeper than the data model used in CAD applications. To write NX Open applications for CAE, you must understand the hierarchy of CAE data in the data model and the roles and responsibilities of the different levels in the hierarchy.
While CAD mainly stores and manages data in a single type of file (.prt), CAE stores and manages data in multiple types of files (for example, .fem, .sim, .asm).
The data relationships in a CAE model form a deeper hierarchy than the data relationships in a CAD model. When you create CAE applications, you often have to traverse the data model to obtain the data you need.
The graphic below shows one small portion of the NX Open for CAE data model.
