Specifying the range of fields created from results
When you create a table field or reference field from results, you can limit the range of the independent domain to a subset of the entire range for the model.
If the independent domain is spatial only, you can limit the spatial range to the portion of the model that is displayed in the post view. To do so, use the group and mesh visibility controls to display the portions of the model for which you want to create the field.Note: If you use a cutting plane to display a portion of a model in a post view, the software ignores the cutting plane specification.
If the independent domain is both spatial and non-spatial, you can limit the spatial range and the non-spatial range. You can limit the spatial range to the portion of the model that is displayed in the post view. You can limit the non-spatial range to a subset of all the time steps or iterations.
Where do I find it?
Using group visibility controls to display a portion of a model
| Application | Pre/Post |
|---|---|
| Prerequisites | An active post view with results |
| Post Processing Navigator | Expand the post view node→expand the Groups node→right-click the group you want to show or hide and choose an option |
Using mesh visibility controls to display a portion of a model
| Application | Pre/Post |
|---|---|
| Prerequisites | An active post view with results |
| Post Processing Navigator | Expand the post view node→expand the elements node→select or clear the check boxes to show or hide meshes |
Creating a field that limits the spatial range to the currently displayed portion of the model
| Application | Pre/Post |
|---|---|
| Prerequisites | An active post view with results |
| Post Processing Navigator | Right-click a post view→Create Field from Results |
| Location in dialog box | Create Field dialog box→Type list and select the field type→Independent Domain list and select spatial domain→Selection group→Method list and select Currently Displayed |
Creating a field that limits the non-spatial range to a subset of all the time steps or iterations
| Application | Pre/Post |
|---|---|
| Prerequisites | An active post view with results |
| Post Processing Navigator | Right-click a post view→Create Field from Results |
| Location in dialog box | Create Field dialog box→Type list and select the field type→Independent Domain list and select spatial and non-spatial domain→Start and End Iteration group→Start Load Case list and select starting subcase→Start Iteration list and select starting increment→End Load Case list and select ending subcase→End Iteration list and select ending increment |
