Create a linked field

This procedure shows how to create a linked field from the Simulation Navigator.

  1. In the Simulation Navigator, right-click the Fields node and choose New FieldLinked.

  2. In the Linked Field dialog box, on the Definition page, select the field you want to reference in the linked field.

  3. From the Type list, select the coordinate basis for the linked field. The options in the Type list depend on the type of coordinate basis of the field you select to reference in the linked field. For example, if the linked field you select has a global coordinate basis, your options are Global and Cartesian. In some cases, you may not have any options. For example, if the linked field you select has a parametric space coordinate basis, your only option is Parameter Space.

  4. If you do not select Global from the Type list, use the available command options to define the local or parametric coordinate basis of the linked field.

  5. Click Apply. The linked field appears in the Fields node in the Simulation Navigator.

  6. In the Linked Field dialog box, click Cancel.
