Associating solver output with a solution
By default, the results file associated with a solver is inferred, using the following criteria:
The results file is named using the following convention: simulation_name-solution_name.ext, where simulation_name is the name of the Simulation file, solution_name is the name of the solution defined in this software, and .ext is the output file extension (.op2, .unv, .rst, .odb, and so on).
The results file is located in the same directory as the Simulation file.
If, however, the results file does not meet these criteria, you can explicitly associate the results file with the appropriate solution. This can happen, for example, when:
Models are solved outside of this software, using a standalone solver or via a batch process.
Solver output files are stored in a separate directory or on a dedicated server.
Output files are renamed or truncated due to path-length restrictions.
Results file associations are saved with Simulation file, and this software automatically locates the associated results every time you open the model using this software.
Associating a directory with a solution
In some cases, you may solve models using the standard naming conventions, but store those output files in a separate directory on a dedicated server. If you specify only an associated directory, the software searches the specified directory, and infers the results based on the file name.
