Automatically computing the number of segments for cyclic symmetry conditions (Simcenter Samcef)
In the Simcenter Samcef Cyclic Symmetry simulation object, after you define the Source Region and the Target Region, Simcenter 3D automatically computes the Segment Properties: the Angle and the Calculated Number of Segments.
You can click Update Segments Properties to compute them.
Using tolerances to refine the automatic computation
When necessary, you can use the Distance Tolerance and the Angle Tolerance tolerances to refine this automatic computation.
To start a new computation of the angle and the number of segments, click Update Segments Properties again.
Overriding the number of segments
To override the Calculated Number of Segments and redefine the number of segments for the simulation object, select the Override Number of Segments check box, and type a value in the Number of Segments (NS) box.
Note:
The most frequent reasons that lead to an incorrect Calculated Number of Segments are:
A revolution cylindrical coordinate system that is incorrectly defined.
The revolution direction of the cylindrical coordinate system that needs to be reversed.
For more details on the cylindrical coordinate system, see the Direction page in Cyclic Symmetry dialog box (Simcenter Samcef).
