Create a rigid body (Abaqus)
Create a rigid body defined on elements
Choose Home tab→Loads and Conditions group→Simulation Object Type→Rigid Body .
From the type list, select Rigid Body Element.
In the Rigid Body dialog box, in the Assign Elements to Rigid Body, click Select Object , and select the elements to be assigned to the rigid body.
In the Rigid Body Reference Node group, click Select Object and select a reference node on the selected body.
(Optional) To reposition the rigid body reference node at the calculated center of mass, in the Location of Reference Node group, select the Reposition at Center of Mass check box.
(Optional) To define the rigid body as an isothermal rigid body for fully coupled thermal-stress analysis (Coupled Thermal-Structural and Dynamic Coupled Thermal-Structural), in the Thermal Interaction group, select the Isothermal Rigid Body check box.
Click OK.
Create a rigid body on pin- or tie-type nodes
Choose Home tab→Loads and Conditions group→Simulation Object Type→Rigid Body .
From the Type list, select the type of rigid body:To create a rigid body on pin-type nodes, select Rigid Body Pin. To create a rigid body on tie-type nodes, select Rigid Body Tie.
In the Rigid Body dialog box, in the Pin Nodes or Tie Nodes group, depending on the type of rigid body, click Select Object , and select the nodes to assign to the rigid body.
In the Rigid Body Reference Node group, click Select Object and select a reference node on the selected body.
(Optional) To reposition the rigid body reference node at the calculated center of mass, in the Location of Reference Node group, select the Reposition at Center of Mass check box.
(Optional) To define the rigid body as an isothermal rigid body for fully coupled thermal-stress analysis (Coupled Thermal-Structural and Dynamic Coupled Thermal-Structural), in the Thermal Interaction group, select the Isothermal Rigid Body check box.
Click OK.
