Bolt Preload (Simcenter Samcef)
You can use the Bolt Preload command to define pre-stress in bolts.
When you select Force or Displacement on 1D Elements in the Bolt Preload dialog box, you can define pre-stress on 1D Bolts. 1D Bolts are Bolt Connection elements that model the shank of the bolt as 1D elements and connect these elements to the surrounding mesh.
When you select Force or Displacement on 3D Elements in the Bolt Preload dialog box, you can define preloaded bolts using continuum type solid elements. You apply a bolt preload across a pre-tension section (Cutting faces) (1).
Note:
The cut must be plane.
You can define tensions in the force through Displacement or Force values. You can enable each of these values at the subcase level. For more information, see Enabling bolt forces or displacements in subcases (Simcenter Samcef).
You can define specific bolt results to compute.
When you select the Force or Displacement on 3D Elements, you can also use the Pre-Tension Modeling Method group to specify the elements to use to join the two cut parts. You can use contact elements (Contact (MCT) method) or mean interpolation elements (Distance Sensor (SE3D+MEAN) method).
