Assign Nodal CSYS/Assign Nodal Displacement CSYS dialog box

Type
When you open this command in the context of a FEM file, you can specify the type of nodal coordinate system to assign:Displacement provides the node's frame of reference for the structural degrees of freedom.Reference determines the coordinate system used to write node coordinates to your solver input deck.Reference & Displacement defines both nodal displacement and nodal reference coordinate systems using the same coordinate system. The coordinate system assignment is stored with the FEM file, and is inherited by all Simulations unless you specifically override it.However, when you open this command in the context of a Simulation file, the dialog box is titled Assign Nodal Displacement CSYS. You can assign only nodal displacement coordinate systems in the Simulation file. The coordinate system assignment overrides the nodal displacement defined with the FEM. This assignment is stored with the Simulation file.
Nodal Geometry
Select Object Lets you select the nodes or geometry to which to assign the coordinate system.
Specify Coordinate System
CSYS Lets you select the coordinate system to assign as the nodal coordinate system.Global Uses the global (absolute) coordinate system.CartesianLets you create or select a local Cartesian coordinate system.CylindricalLets you create or select a local cylindrical coordinate system.Spherical Lets you create or select a local spherical coordinate system.Global Cyclic AnalysisUses the global cyclic analysis coordinate system. This option appears when a global cyclic analysis coordinate system is defined in the FEM.
Specify CSYS Lets you create or select a local coordinate system.See CSYS dialog box for more information.
Boundary Options
Assign to Appears only when assigning nodal displacement coordinate systems. For selected geometry, controls which nodes are assigned the selected coordinate system.Interior Nodes Only — Assigns the selected coordinate only to nodes that lie entirely within the selected geometry (such as the interior nodes of a selected polygon face). Boundary Nodes Only — Assigns the selected coordinate system only to nodes that lie on the boundary of the selected geometry, such as the polygon edges and polygon vertices of a selected polygon face.Interior and Boundary Nodes — Assigns the selected coordinate system to the nodes that lie on the interior and boundary of the selected geometry (such as the interior, the polygon edges, and the polygon vertices of a selected polygon face).Use these rules to avoid conflict when assigned different coordinate systems to adjacent geometry.
