Samcef environment
Bulk behavior overview (Simcenter Samcef)
For some elements, it is possible to use different integration schemes for the deviatoric and volumetric parts of the constitutive law. The deviatoric part is integrated in a classical way.
For the volumetric part, Lagrange multipliers are introduced. These Lagrange multipliers connect the internal pressure to the change of volume. When the bulk stiffness becomes large, the solution is nearly incompressible but no bad conditioning is observed.
Two BULK laws between the internal pressure p, the change of volume J (V/V0) and the bulk modulus K are available for some Simcenter Samcef elements:
The classical law: J - 1 = p / K.
The log law: ln J = p / K.
In the Edit Mesh Associated Data, Incompressible Condition (Bulk) property, you can choose between:
Bilinear / Trilinear (log law): the log law with a bilinear / trilinear pressure field description (Samcef .AEL BULK 1).
Bilinear/Trilinear: the classical law with a bilinear/trilinear pressure field description (Samcef .AEL BULK 2).
Linear: the classical law with a linear pressure field description (Samcef .AEL BULK 22).
These BULK laws are only available for some Simcenter Samcef elements. For more details, see the Samcef bulk behavior page in the Simcenter Samcef documentation.
