Intermediary elements in fan noise

Intermediary elements are used by the software to map CFD data into the FEM acoustic domain. The PreSolver converts the CFD pressure-versus-time functions to force-versus-time functions as acoustic sources.

You use the intermediary elements to map fan blade pressures, assign the fan CSYS, the center of rotation, and to verify the fan blade segmentation mapping.

Intermediary elements for CFD data on a fan

After the PreSolver has converted the CFD data, you can display the fan forces using Post-processing Scenario.

You can display the fan blade force mapping with contour or XY plotting.

  • To display the blade pressure in a contour plot, in the Simulation Navigator, right-click the CFD data (.cgns) file → Create Related Post ScenarioContour PlotsSpatial Results Set****Fan Spatial Results Set

  • To display the blade force in an XY plot, in the Simulation Navigator, right-click the Model And Load Pre-Processing 1 node → Post-Processing ScenarioFunction PlotsCreate Scenario. The plot displays. In the Scenario Based Data Visualization dialog box that displays, you can select the data source, Target Coordinates, Target Coordinates, Subcase, Name, and Variable (Response Functions) to create another plot.Fan blade force versus time
