Modifying the Z direction for the contact mesh
Once you create a contact mesh, you can modify the Z direction of the contact mesh, if necessary. The Z direction should be normal to the contact face and contact elements.
In the Simulation Navigator, under the Connection Collector node, expand the Contact Collection node.
Right-click the newly created contact mesh and choose Edit Mesh Associated Data.
In the Edit Attributes dialog box, choose either Specify Vector or a command from the vector type menu to define the Z direction.
Click OK or Apply.
