Planarity Condition simulation object (Simcenter Samcef)
You can use the Planarity Condition simulation object to restrict a group of nodes from moving in a plane.
The plane is computed as the mean square plane passing through all the nodes. The slave nodes (1) can freely move in the plane. The plane is rigidly attached to a master node (2) on which you can apply boundary conditions.
Most of the time, the spatial distribution of the slave nodes is already very close to a plane. If this is not the case, use the Specify The Normal to Plane (DIR) option in the Planarity Condition dialog box (Simcenter Samcef) to help Samcef to compute the plane.
With the Slave Nodes Rotation (OPT) option, you can modify the rotation condition of the slave nodes. If a planarity condition is imposed on shell element nodes, the Normal free, in-plane fixed option sets a suitable symmetry condition for the degrees of freedom of the nodes. But if the planarity condition involves volume elements nodes, use the Free option to avoid zero pivots during the solve.
