Set up a cyclic symmetric display

Note:

Setting up the cyclic symmetric results display is available when you set the color display to contour plot.

Show all sectors, a selected sector, or a group of sectors

  1. In the Post Processing Navigator, right-click the post view and choose Set Result.

  2. In the Edit Result dialog box, click Set Symmetric Results.

  3. (Optional) For multi-stage cyclic results, in the Stage list, select the stage, or use the Ctrl key to select multiple stages, whose sector display you want to set. If you select more than one stage, you can only set the display of the primary sector or all sectors.

  4. In the dialog box, from the Sector Display list, select one of the following:All to display all sectors.Selected to select the sector numbers to display. Use the Ctrl key to select multiple sectors.

  5. Click Apply to view the sectors. The dialog box remains open so you can continue selecting sectors.

  6. Click OK to render the view and return to the Edit Result dialog box to further refine your results.

Display results for a particular sector on the primary sector

Primary sector with sector 5 results displayed

Note:

Available for Abaqus, ANSYS, and Simcenter 3D Multiphysics cyclic symmetric results.

  1. In the Post Processing Navigator, right-click the post view and choose Set Result.

  2. In the Edit Result dialog box, click Set Symmetric Results.

  3. In the dialog box, from the Sector Display list, select Primary.

  4. From the Values From list, select Particular Sector.

  5. From the Select Sector By list, select Index, and type the sector index number in the Sector Index box.

  6. Click Apply to render the view with the current settings. The dialog box remains open so you can continue to adjust the display.

  7. Click OK to render the view and return to the Edit Result dialog box to further refine your results.

Display maximum and minimum results on the primary sector

Note:

Available for Simcenter 3D Multiphysics cyclic symmetric results.

The sector that is shown is based on the current results. For example, if the post view displays displacement magnitude, and you select Maximum, the post view displays the sector with the maximum displacement magnitude values on the primary sector.

  1. In the Post Processing Navigator, right-click the post view and choose Set Result.

  2. In the Edit Result dialog box, click Set Symmetric Results.

  3. In the dialog box, from the Display Sector(s) list, select Primary.

  4. From the Values From list, select Particular Sector.

  5. From the Select Sector By list, select Value, and select the value from Sector Value.

  6. Click Apply to render the view with the current settings. The dialog box remains open so you can continue to adjust the display.

  7. Click OK to render the view and return to the Edit Result dialog box to further refine your results.

Display an enveloped value on the primary sector

Note:

Available for Simcenter 3D Multiphysics cyclic symmetric results.

The values that are shown depend on the current results. For example, if the post view displays displacement nodal magnitude, and you set the sector value to Maximum, the post view displays the maximum displacement nodal magnitude values across all sectors on the primary sector.

The primary sector The enveloped value for displacements displayed on the primary sector
  1. In the Post Processing Navigator, right-click the post view and choose Set Result.

  2. In the Edit Result dialog box, click Set Symmetric Results.

  3. In the dialog box, from the Display Sector(s) list, select Primary.

  4. From the Values From list, select Enveloped Across Sectors.

  5. From the Envelope Value list, select the value for which you want to display.

  6. Click Apply to render the view with the current settings. The dialog box remains open so you can continue to adjust the display.

  7. Click OK to render the view and return to the Edit Result dialog box to further refine your results.
