Open an assembly FEM file and NVH Composer project files

Use this procedure to open the assembly FEM file and corresponding NVH Composer project files after you generate an assembly FEM file from NVH Composer.

1. Open the assembly FEM file you generated from NVH Composer as follows:In Simcenter 3D Pre/Post, choose File→Open .In the lower-left corner of the Open dialog box, click Options.In the Assembly Load Options dialog box, in the Part Versions group, from the Load list, select As Saved and click OK.Navigate to the Output folder where NVH Composer generated your assembly FEM, select the assembly FEM file, and click OK.The assembly FEM file and all of the component FEM files open in the Simulation Navigator.

2. Start NVH Composer by choosing Home tab→Assembly Tools group→Assembly Composer Application .A message appears to inform you that the NVH Composer is connected to the current session. This connection ensures that you can synchronize updates in NVH Composer and Simcenter 3D Pre/Post.

3. In NVH Composer, open the project definition file for your assembly file by choosing Open Project .Note: If the project does not open, or an error message appears, open the project definition file and make sure that the paths you entered for Input File Directory and Output File Directory are correct.If your NVH Composer project files are in the same location and have the same file names as when you generated the assembly FEM file, they are opened automatically when you open the project definition file. Otherwise, you are prompted to locate the connections database file, and you must import the mass file manually.Note: The connections in the layout view are red until all of the project files are open.If you are not prompted to open the connection database, choose Project→Open Connection DB. To open the lumped mass connections file, choose Project→Import Mass.When the files successfully open, the Connection DB tab and Mass List are populated with the values from your project files.
