Solution Step dialog box (Abaqus), Complex Eigenvalue Extraction
The Complex Eigenvalue Extraction Parameters correspond to the Abaqus *COMPLEX FREQUENCY keyword.
See *COMPLEX FREQUENCY in the Abaqus Keywords Reference Guide for more information.
| Complex Eigenvalue Extraction Parameters | |
|---|---|
| Extract All Eigenmodes From Prior Natural Frequency Step | Controls whether to extract all eigenmodes from the preceding natural frequency step or specify the modes to be extracted. Select the Extract All Eigenmodes From Prior Natural Frequency Step check box to extract all eigenmodes. Clear the Extract All Eigenmodes From Prior Natural Frequency Step check box to specify the modes to be extracted. |
| Number of Desired Modes | Appears when the Extract All Eigenmodes From Prior Natural Frequency Step check box is cleared.Sets the number of complex eigenmodes to be extracted. If you do not enter a value, the software extracts all the eigenmodes available in the projected subspace. The number extracted includes all eigenmodes computed in the preceding natural frequency step, and possibly reduced if you specify a Select EigenModes modeling object in the Other Step Parameters page. |
| Frequency Range - Lower Limit | Appears when the Extract All Eigenmodes From Prior Natural Frequency Step check box is cleared.Sets the minimum frequency of interest, in cycles per time. If you do not enter a value, no minimum is set. |
| Frequency Range - Upper Limit | Appears when the Extract All Eigenmodes From Prior Natural Frequency Step check box is cleared.Sets the maximum frequency of interest, in cycles per time. If you do not enter a value, no maximum is set. |
| Shift Point | Lets you specify the shift point, S, in cycles per time (S ≥ 0). The eigenvalues with the imaginary part closest to this point are extracted. The default value is zero. Note: If you select the Extract All Eigenmodes From Prior Natural Frequency Step check box and do not enter a value for Shift Point, the software extracts all the eigenmodes available in the projected subspace from the preceding frequency perturbation step. |
| Include Friction-Induced Damping Effects | Controls whether Abaqus ignores the friction-induced damping effects:This option corresponds to the FRICTION DAMPING parameter of the *COMPLEX FREQUENCY keyword. |
| Normalization Method | Controls the normalization method used:ModalSet to normalize only the complex eigenvectors of the projected system. DisplacementSet to normalize the complex eigenvectors so the real part of the largest value in each vector is unity and the imaginary part is zero. This option corresponds to the NORMALIZATION parameter of the *COMPLEX FREQUENCY keyword. |
| Specify Frequency-Dependent Property Evaluation | Controls whether you set the frequency at which properties are evaluated. This option corresponds to the PROPERTY EVALUATION parameter of the *COMPLEX FREQUENCY keyword. |
| Frequency At Which Properties Are Evaluated | Appears when the Specify Frequency-Dependent Property Evaluation check box is selected.Specifies the frequency at which to evaluate the frequency-dependent properties for viscoelasticity, springs, and dashpots during complex eigenvalue extraction. |
| Set Cutoff Value for Complex Eigenmodes | Controls whether you set the cutoff value for complex modes. This option corresponds to the UNSTABLE MODES ONLY parameter of the *COMPLEX FREQUENCY keyword. |
| Cutoff Value | Appears when the Set Cutoff Value for Complex Eigenmodes check box is selected.Specifies the cutoff value for complex modes. The default value is 0.0.Only complex modes with the real part of the eigenvalue higher than the cutoff value are written to the output database (.odb) file. If you do not enter a value, all complex modes are output. |
| Complex Eigenvector Extraction | Lets you specify left or right complex eigenvectors. Left EigenvectorsSet to request left complex eigenvectors. This parameter applies only in analyses that are based on the Abaqus SIM software architecture. This option corresponds to the LEFT EIGENVECTORS parameter of the *COMPLEX FREQUENCY keyword. Right EigenvectorsSet to request right complex eigenvectors (the default). This option corresponds to the RIGHT EIGENVECTORS parameter of the *COMPLEX FREQUENCY keyword. |
