Sequential transient events (continuation restart)

Restart analysis

For each transient event, you can generate an Event Evaluation file (EEF) and then use it to make multiple evaluations of responses to the same event. The EEF file guarantees consistent responses from the same event settings. This process is referred to as a restart analysis. For more information about restart analysis, see Efficiency through restart analysis.

Continuation restart analysis

You can also use the EEF to make multiple evaluations of responses to a set of sequential events. Using EEFs, you can link one event to the next event and then link the second event to the one following, and so on. This process is referred to as a continuation restart analysis.

With a continuation restart analysis, the modal displacements and modal velocities of the structure at the end of the first event can be used as the initial conditions for the second event. For example, you can evaluate two shocks due to double impacts. In this example, you could define a transient event for the first shock, and define a second transient event for the second shock. You would use the EEF file from the first event as the initial conditions for the second event.
