Cohesive Behavior dialog box (Abaqus)
| Properties | |
|---|---|
| Description | Lets you specify an optional description for the modeling object. |
| Postfailure Behavior | |
| Enforce Cohesive Behavior For Recurrent Contacts Subsequent to Failure | Controls the post-failure behavior when your model includes progressive damage.Select this check box to enforce cohesive behavior for recurrent contacts at nodes on the slave surface subsequent to ultimate failure. Clear this check box to not enforce cohesive behavior for nodes on the slave surface once ultimate failure has occurred at those nodes. |
| Control Cohered Nodes Set | |
| Restrict Cohesive Behavior To | Controls which subset of nodes the software applies cohesive behavior.Select Slave Nodes Initially in Contact to define cohesive behavior for all nodes of the slave surface that are in contact with the master surface at the start of a step and also for slave nodes that are not initially in contact but may come in contact during the course of a step.Select Only Initially Contacting Slave Nodes to restrict cohesive behavior to only those nodes of the slave surface that are in contact with the master surface at the start of a step.Appears for a Structural analysis.Select Subset of Slave Nodes to restrict cohesive behavior to a subset of slave nodes that you select. |
| Group Reference | Specify an existing group that contains the slave nodes, or create a new group. For more information, see Group Reference options. |
| Cohered Nodes | Select the slave nodes to which you want to restrict cohesive behavior. |
| Traction-Separation Response | |
| Traction-Separation Behavior | Controls the type of traction behavior.Select Default Contact Penalties to have Abaqus use default contact penalties to model the traction-separation behavior.Select Uncoupled to generate contact penalties that enforce the cohesive constraint in both normal and tangential directions. With this option, the normal and tangential stiffness components are not coupled. For uncoupled traction-separation behavior, you must define the Knn, Kss, and Ktt terms in the stiffness matrix.Select Coupled to define coupled traction behavior. With this option, Abaqus analyzes fully coupled behavior between all components of the traction vector and separation vector. For coupled traction-separation behavior, you must define all terms in the elasticity matrix. |
| Define Temperature Dependent Data | Appears when Traction-Separation Behavior is set to Coupled or Uncoupled. Select this option to define the elastic behavior as temperature-dependent. |
| Elastic Stiffness Component KnnElastic Stiffness Component KssElastic Stiffness Component Ktt | Appears when Traction-Separation Behavior is set to Coupled or Uncoupled and the Define Temperature Dependent Data check box is cleared.Lets you define the components of elastic stiffness. |
| Elastic Stiffness Component KnsElastic Stiffness Component KntElastic Stiffness Component Kst | Appears when Traction-Separation Behavior list is set to Coupled and the Define Temperature Dependent Data check box is cleared.Lets you define the components of elastic stiffness. |
