Combine loadcases and groups of elements
This example creates two result probes that:
Combine loadcases into a single data series (often referred to as subcase packing). It averages the results for Panel2, which is a group of elements in the model. It outputs the results as a post view.
Combine the panels based on arithmetic mean (often referred to as spatial packing). It outputs a graph of all the loadcases at the frequency values of the panel.
The model is a vibro-acoustic model of an engine.
Create result variables to define displacement in the x and y direction
Choose Result Variables and create a result variable to define displacement in the x direction.Name = dxResult Type = DisplacementLocation = NodalOK
Create another result variable to define displacement in the y direction.Name = dyResult Type = DisplacementLocation = NodalOK
Create result probe to combine loadcases
Choose Result Probe and create the result probe to combine the loadcases (perform spatial packing). Use the dx and dy variables to define the formula.Name = Subcase PackingFormula = dx + dyLoadcase Selection = AllCombine Across Loadcases Combine Option = AverageIteration Type = Frequency Interpolation Option = Amplitude and PhaseSelection Type = Group Group Reference = Panel2
Generate output as a post view.Output Options = Post ViewCreate Output OK
The Result dialog box now shows only the frequencies across loadcases. No options are available to select loadcases because they are combined.
Create result probe to combine the panels based on arithmetic mean (spatial packing)
Create a result probe as you did for combining loadcases but set the following additional option to combine the results across the selected panel:Geometry Value = Arithmetic Mean
Generate output as a graph.Output Options = GraphCreate Output OKA graph of all the frequencies of the combined loadcases across panels appears.
How do I
Calculate and display maximum alternating stress
Evaluate and display upper and lower limits of worst principal stress
Display a temperature load
Output a temperature field
Perform frequency packing
