Specifying default values for parameters
You can optionally specify default values for parameters in custom methods. When you do, in the Calculation Creation dialog box for the custom method, the default values appear in the data entry boxes for the parameters. To change the value for a parameter where a default value is specified, in the Calculation Creation dialog box for the custom method, delete the default value and replace it with the desired value.
Because the software directly converts a default value into the format that the parameter requires, you must specify a constant value for a default. Thus, you cannot specify default values with expressions, fields, and so on.
The following table lists the types of parameters for which you can specify a default value.
| Parameter type | Example | Comments |
|---|---|---|
| Scalar | The unit attribute is mandatory unless the measure attribute is set to “Unitless”.To access a list of the valid units, chooseMenu→Tools→Units Manager. | |
| Integer | ||
| Size | ||
| Boolean | Valid defaults for a Boolean parameter are “true” and “false” only. | |
| Text | When a “values” attribute is present the parameter becomes an Enum parameter.The software automatically removes any leading and trailing white spaces in the default text string. | |

Note:
Default values are not supported for the laminate and load extraction parameter types, and tables.
