Setting up the cyclic symmetry reference axis (Simcenter Samcef)
When you create a cyclic symmetry model in the Simcenter Samcef environment, you must first define a Default Cyclic Symmetry Cylindrical CSYS coordinate system to specify the axial direction for the model. This is the default coordinate system in any operations that include coordinate system selections.
You define a cyclic analysis coordinate system in the New FEM or Edit FEM dialog box. Select the Use Cyclic CSYS if Defined check box and specify the coordinate system. The Z-axis of this coordinate system defines the rotation axis of the model.
Note:
When you create a Cyclic Symmetry simulation object, you can override this default definition in the Cyclic Symmetry dialog box by selecting the Override CSYS check box, selecting User-Defined Cylindrical from the CSYS list, and defining a cyclic symmetry coordinate system for that simulation object.
When you define the cyclic symmetric conditions, you can select the global cyclic analysis coordinate system or select another coordinate system. The coordinate system you select must be cylindrical and its Z-axis must be collinear with the global cyclic analysis coordinate system.
