Strategies for saving results in a Simcenter Samcef nonlinear analysis solution step
In a Simcenter Samcef Non-Linear Static Analysis solution, for each solution step, results are saved at each computed and converged timestep. You can modify this default strategy by adding extra times (or timesteps) at which results also must be saved.
You can set up this strategy in the Storage group of parameters of the solution step.
You can combine the following backup strategies:
Define a global time increment backup.
Specify extra computation times.
Add specific backup frequencies.
Time increment backup strategy
With this strategy, you impose the global Time increment for backup (Samcef DTAR paramter).
In this case, all results are archived at every time tar, where tar is defined as the first time step that is larger or equal to tn.
The definition of tn is: tn = t0 + n × DTAR, where t0 is the initial computation time, and n is the time step number.
Imposed times strategy
With this strategy, you define a list of extra Imposed Time computation times.
Note:
Defining an extra computation time for archiving results forces the solver to compute results at this specific time. This can be problematic if, for example, the iteration process does not locally converge at this time.
Specific storage frequency strategy
With this strategy, you change the Storage Frequency of All Nodal Results (.SUB IA16), the Storage Frequency of All Elements Results (.SUB IA4), and the Storage Frequency of XY Results (.SUB IA19).
For more details, see the Samcef .SUBCASE command.
Where do I find it?
To define the results saving strategy for a solution step of a Simcenter Samcef Non-Linear Static Analysis:
| Simulation Navigator | Expand the active solution node→right-click Subcase→Edit |
