Specialist Durability > Specialist durability load events

Create a harmonic data source

  1. Make the Simulation file the work part and the displayed part, and choose Specialist Durability tab→Load Events group→Harmonic Data Source .You can also create a harmonic data source from the Harmonic Event dialog box.

  2. In the Name - Description group, in the name box, type a name for the harmonic data source.

  3. In the Mode Set group, from the Mode Set list, select an existing mode set.You can also click Create Mode Set to create a mode set using the Mode Set dialog box. When you create a mode set, its node appears under the Mode Sets node in the Simulation Navigator.

  4. In the Modes subgroup, select one of the following options:Free-Free: the solver uses the fixed vibration inputs to constrain the model and re-compute the modes during solution.Fixed-Fixed: the solver ignores the fixed vibration inputs during solution. For more information, see Modal basis in vibration load events definition.

  5. In the Sampling Rate group, in the Sampling Rate box, type the incremental rate that the solver uses to identify the frequencies to compute outputs.

  6. In the Forcing Frequencies group, from the Options list, select Multiple to define multiple harmonic loads for the duration of the load. You can select Single from the Options list if you want to define only a single harmonic load for the duration of the load.

  7. In the Frequency subgroup, select one of the following load types and specify its parameters:Sine Sweep if the load is applied in the form of a sine wave.Specify the frequency range in the Start Frequency and End Frequency boxes, and the Duration value. You can also switch the load type between Linear and Logarithmic.Sine Dwell if the load is applied in the form of a single peak.Specify the peak Frequency and Duration values.

  8. In the Multiple subgroup, click Add Frequency to add the load, for which you defined the frequency parameters in the Frequency subgroup, to the load list.

  9. Repeat steps 7 and 8 to add more loads to the load list.

  10. In the Vibration Inputs group, click Create Vibration Input to create vibration inputs using the Vibration Input Definition dialog box. For more information, see Create a vibration input.

  11. Click OK to close the Harmonic Data Source dialog box.
