Superposition Event dialog box — Pre-stress tab
Tip:
In the tab name, the number in the parentheses identifies if a pre-stress subcase is selected. (1) indicates a pre-stress subcase is selected, and (0) indicates one is not selected.
| Pre-stress Case | |
|---|---|
| Pre-stress case list | Lists existing active subcases and lets you select one as the pre-stress case. If a pre-stress load is applied to the model in the finite element computation, here you select which of the subcases contains the results for the pre-stress computation. The stresses of the selected load case acts as pre-stress for the durability analysis. To select a subcase, select its check box in the Index column. An example of a pre-stress load is the pre-tension of a bolt. Unlike a static load, a pre-stress load affects other loads and is included in other load calculations. For example, suppose you have n load cases in your analysis setup. Superimposing these n load cases increases the pre-stresses n times and overrates its influence. Therefore, the results of the pre-stress must be represented by a separate subcase. A pre-stress load case is not scaled by a load time history. |
| Selection Criterion | Specifies the criterion for selecting the pre-stress load case if the finite element result data source is changed.SubcaseSelects the subcase with the same name as the static pre-stress load.IndexSelects the subcase with the same index as the pre-stress load. |
| Scale Factor | Sets the scale factor for the pre-stress case. |
| Pre-stress Included in All Other Subcases | Applies the pre-stress load case to all the matching load cases that are listed in the Matching Results group of the Connection tab. Select this check box if the matching load cases already contain pre-stress. The software applies the pre-stress only once as a load and subtracts it from the other load cases before the load cases are scaled. If you clear the Pre-stress Included in All Other Subcases check box, the pre-stress is ignored for all the matching load cases. Clear this check box if the matching subcases do not contain any pre-stress load. The software adds the pre-stress and does not change the other load cases. |
