Set up a modal flexible body solution (ANSYS)
In the Simulation Navigator, right-click the Simulation file, and choose New Solution.
In the Solution dialog box, do the following:Set the Solver list to ANSYS.Set the Analysis Type list to Structural. Set the Solution Type list to Modal Flexible Body.
(Optional) To use the lumped mass approximation formulation and not the element-dependent mass matrix formulation, in the General tab, select the Lumped Mass Matrix Formulation (LUMPM) check box.
On the Generation Pass tab, set the solve options for the Generation Pass.For more information, see the Solution dialog box (ANSYS).
On the Use Pass (Modal) tab, set the options for the Use Pass step.For more information, see the Solution dialog box (ANSYS).
On the Expansion Pass tab, set the following options.For more information, see the Solution dialog box (ANSYS).To expand all solutions or a range of solutions from analyses that use reduced or mode superposition methods, select Expand to. To calculate element results, nodal results, and reaction loads, set Element Calculation Key (Elcalc) to (YES) Calculate element results, nodal loads, and reaction loads.Note: If you want to obtain output on elements, Element Calculation Key (Elcalc) must be set to (YES) Calculate element results, nodal loads, and reaction loads.To define output, next to Results and Printout Controls, select an existing ANSYS Structural Output modeling object from the list or create a new modeling object. Note: By default, output for the nodal DOF solution and element nodal stresses is set. To analyze other result types in the flexible body during the motion simulation, you must request those result items. For more information, see Request output for a modal flexible analysis (ANSYS).
Click OK to close all dialog boxes.
