Specialist Durability > Specialist durability load events
Creating a duty cycle load event
Use the Duty Cycle command to create a duty cycle load event that lets you combine different load events to generate a single load event. This is helpful when creating the specialist durability solution process in which you can only specify a single load event.
Often a durability test cycle evaluates the combination of different load events that represent specific loading conditions. The fatigue life of a component is computed based on a list of load events, each with a certain length or percentage. In some occasions, the component is subjected to a particular load event for most of its life. For an accurate analysis, you must consider the combined effect of all the load events acting on the component. For example, when various forces act on a component simultaneously, some act along the X-axis, some along the Y-axis, and some along the Z-axis, you create different load events for each one of these forces and then combine them to create a single load event using the Duty Cycle command. The order in which these forces act repetitively on the component has a substantial influence in predicting the fatigue life of the component.
