Laminate Composites
Material and ply orientation
Material coordinate system
is used for orienting properties of anisotropic or orthotropic materials, such as those of laminate composites.
Ply coordinate system
has its axis 1 aligned with the ply's warp fiber direction.
For an orientation angle of 0°, the ply and material laminate orientations are identical.
Note:
Depending on the solver, the material orientation is defined at the mesh level or at the mesh collector level.
You can display the X-axes of the material coordinate systems on each element face.
