Plot coupling quality results

With both Simcenter Nastran FEM and Simcenter 3D Acoustics BEM, you can use post-processing contour plots to verify the quality of the one-way fluid-structure interface coupling (weak coupling).

1. In the Post Processing Navigator, expand the Acoustic or Vibro Acoustic results node.

2. Expand the Coupling Quality Results node that contains the coupling information that you want to plot.The following types of coupling quality results appear in the Coupling Quality Results list for Simcenter Nastran FEM:Fluid coupled faces: closest distance to structural faces - Element-FaceDisplays all free faces of the acoustic mesh that were coupled to the structure, and indicates the closest distance between any structural element from the coupling set and that acoustic face.Note: If a node belongs to two different free faces involved in coupling, its value must be the smaller of the two distances from the two faces.Fluid uncoupled faces: search distance - Element-FaceDisplays only the acoustic faces that were not coupled by the solver. Some acoustic faces that were selected for coupling remain uncoupled because they do not fit the coupling criteria. This result displays the uncoupled fluid faces. The result is a single value that is the sum of the outward and inward normal search distance.Fluid coupled and uncoupled faces: distance - Element-FaceDisplays all coupled and uncoupled acoustic faces with the distance tolerance that is selected for coupling. Coupled faces have coupling distance values and uncoupled faces have a single value. The coupled and uncoupled faces appear in different colors so you can distinguish between them.Structural coupled (0) and uncoupled (1) faces - Element-FaceDisplays all coupled and uncoupled structural faces that are selected for coupling.The following types of coupling quality results appear in the Coupling Quality Results list for Simcenter 3D Acoustics BEM:Structural coupled and uncoupled faces: distance - ElementalThis result displays all coupled and uncoupled structural faces that are selected for coupling.Fluid coupled (0) and uncoupled (1) nodes - NodalThis result displays all coupled and uncoupled acoustic nodes that are selected for coupling. The coupled and uncoupled nodes appear in different colors so you can distinguish between them.

3. Right-click the selected results that you want to plot and choose Plot.

4. (Optional) Overlay different result(s) in the same plot.For more information, see Overlay plots.
